This Acceptable Use and User Content Policy explains rules for using HabitatOS and submitting, uploading, syncing, sharing, exporting, or transferring content through the Service. This Policy is part of the HabitatOS Terms of Use.
You may use HabitatOS only for lawful, authorized, and appropriate reptile-care recordkeeping, husbandry tracking, reminders, sensor organization, passport records, transfers, and related purposes.
You are responsible for your use of HabitatOS and for the content, data, photos, notes, records, passport information, transfer information, and sensor connections you create or submit.
"User Content" means content or information you submit, upload, sync, import, share, export, or otherwise provide through HabitatOS, including reptile names, photos, notes, care logs, health-check records, breeding records, enclosure data, sensor mappings, passport records, transfer notes, recipient information, and other user-generated information.
You retain ownership of your User Content, but you grant Paladin Labs permission to host, store, process, display, transmit, back up, convert, compress, organize, export, and otherwise use User Content as needed to provide, maintain, secure, and improve HabitatOS.
You must not submit, upload, share, publish, transfer, or export User Content that is unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, deceptive, or harmful; infringes intellectual property, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, or other rights; includes another person's personal information without permission or lawful basis; misrepresents animal ownership, source, health, breeding status, transfer eligibility, or legal status; promotes unlawful animal possession, sale, transfer, import, export, breeding, transport, or mistreatment; contains harassment, threats, defamation, hate, abuse, exploitation, or graphic material unrelated to legitimate reptile care records; contains malware, harmful code, credential-harvesting content, or attempts to bypass security controls; or publishes secrets, passwords, API keys, sensor-provider credentials, private tokens, or other sensitive access information.
You must not use HabitatOS for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, abusive, or deceptive purposes; access or attempt to access accounts, systems, data, or areas of the Service that you are not authorized to access; interfere with, disrupt, overload, probe, scan, test, or attack the Service or related infrastructure; reverse engineer, decompile, modify, scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service except where allowed by law; circumvent subscription limits, access controls, security controls, rate limits, entitlement checks, or technical restrictions; upload malware, harmful code, automated abuse traffic, spam, or content designed to disrupt the Service; misrepresent your identity, affiliation, ownership of an animal, or authority to transfer records; use the Service to harass, threaten, defame, exploit, or harm others; use sensor integrations with accounts, devices, APIs, or credentials you are not authorized to access; or use HabitatOS as an emergency alerting, animal-safety, medical, veterinary, fire-safety, life-safety, or guaranteed climate-monitoring system.
HabitatOS may provide tools for passport sharing, transfer records, public links, QR codes, and exports, but HabitatOS does not broker, validate, supervise, or guarantee animal sales, adoptions, shipments, breeding arrangements, or transfers.
You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws and requirements related to animals, wildlife, exotic species, transport, shipping, import/export, permits, licenses, inspections, animal welfare, local ownership restrictions, endangered species, invasive species, breeder disclosures, and veterinary or quarantine requirements.
If you make a passport, link, slug, QR code, export, or transfer available to others, you are responsible for reviewing the information before sharing it.
Public links may be accessible by anyone with the link or public slug. Recipients may copy, save, forward, download, screenshot, print, or otherwise retain shared information outside HabitatOS.
If you connect a third-party sensor provider or device, you must be authorized to use that provider account, device, API, credential, and data.
You must not use HabitatOS to access third-party accounts, devices, APIs, sensors, thermostats, or environmental systems without permission.
If you discover a potential security issue, vulnerability, exposed credential, or unauthorized access risk, contact Support@habitatos.io.
Do not publicly disclose security issues, access another user's data, disrupt the Service, extract data, or exploit the issue. Good-faith reports should avoid privacy invasion, data destruction, service disruption, and access to information beyond what is necessary to demonstrate the issue.
We may investigate, remove content, disable public links, restrict features, suspend accounts, terminate accounts, revoke access, or take other action if we reasonably believe this Policy or the Terms of Use have been violated. We may also take action to protect users, animals, third parties, Paladin Labs, service providers, infrastructure, or the integrity of HabitatOS.
To report misuse, harmful content, unauthorized public sharing, fraudulent transfer claims, infringement, privacy concerns, or other abuse, contact Support@habitatos.io.
Please include enough information for us to identify and review the issue. Do not include passwords, recovery keys, API keys, payment card information, or other secrets.
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice where required by applicable law.
